The Department of Economic Development was commissioned in 2010 by Mayor Richard Woodland to facilitate population and economic expansion within the City of Rexburg.

Focus
The department has a three-tiered focus to develop the local economy through: 

• Systemic growth or growth of existing businesses
• Business attraction by means of increasing awareness of Rexburg's fertile business climate 
• Increased foreign investment into the economy through initiatives such as the EB-5 visa program and top-to-top networking
