The City of Rexburg has grown significantly in the last decade. The 2000 U.S. census reported Rexburg’s estimated population to be 17,792. By the 2010 census, the population grew to 25,464, approximately a 69% increase over ten years. Rexburg’s growth sits well above the national population growth rate (8.8%) and the Idaho State population growth rate (18.9%) for the same ten-year period. One of the reasons for this growth is the expansion of Brigham Young University-Idaho’s faculty and student body. Since 2000, enrollment at the university has increased by over 60% to 15,350, and BYU-Idaho has indicated that it plans to grow by an additional 30% within the next five to ten years. Overall, population estimates for continued citywide growth over the next five years show about 10% growth per year.
