Become a star as you build friendships and share great experiences as an Upper Valley Idol participant. Upper Valley Idol is South-east Idaho’s talent showcase of singers and songwriters. For both participants and the audience, this event will provide an amazing set of shows that will bedazzle you with their range of talent.

Auditions – Open to all the public

Come show your stuff at one of the two auditions where you have the chance to make it as a contestant as a Junior Idol or an Upper Valley Idol. Come prepared with a song of your choice to perform. A sound system for CD’s will be available, there will be NO piano.

Categories

Junior Idol – ages up to 15 years, both male and female

Upper Valley Idol – 16 years and up

(This is a one-time audition; you will only need to perform at one of the provided dates.)

Tips for the audition

·         Sing an appropriate song for a family

·         Rehearse a lot, this is a real audition

·         Don’t just sing on stage, perform

·         Show confidence

·         Sing a song in your vocal range

A certain number of those that audition will move on to the preliminaries. Make sure that you will be able to make all three of their category’s shows.

Preliminaries – Public Performances

Each contestant that makes the audition will perform in front of a public audience and a panel of judges. After each performance, the judge panel will give their critique on the singing and the performance. Once everyone has sung, the audience and judge panel will vote for 8 people in each category to advance to the semi-finals. The voting will be on a 25/75 basis with the judge panel possessing the stronger voting power.

Once everyone has sung, the audience and judge panel will vote for this year’s Upper Valley Idol in each category to advance to the finals. The voting will be on a 25/75 basis with the judge panel possessing the stronger voting power.

Voting

The eliminating process of contestants depends on the audience and judge panel. By donating $1.00 to the Westwood Fund, you will be able to submit your vote via text message from an Edge Wireless phone which will be provided by our sponsors. The voting will be on a 25/75 basis with the judges possessing the stronger voting power.
