Mayor's Message
It is Thanksgiving, that time of year when our thoughts return to our youth
with fond memories of family and friends gathered around a table covered with
an amazing bounty of food. This time of year brings to my mind a sense of longing
for people long past.
I think of the debt of gratitude owed to them for their influence on my life
and for their sacrifice and service for others. We recently celebrated Veterans
Day at Smith Park. This celebration reminds us all that we should give thanks
this season for their example to us.
We as residents of this beautiful city surely owe thanks to those pioneers
who struggled to build what we enjoy today. We can honor their contribution
by attending the Turkey Choir Concert held in the Rexburg Tabernacle Civic
Center on Thanksgiving Day at 10 a.m.
We could also express our thanks by making a contribution to the Tabernacle’s
window replacement fund – honoring the contribution of our pioneer forbears,
who gave us such a wonder building to enjoy in our community.
With best wishes for the holiday season,
Richard S. Woodland
