2025 Elections Candidate Information

Candidates must make sure they carefully read the instructions for the Declaration of Candidacy and Petition of Candidacy so the forms are filed correctly. All signatures on the petition and the candidate must be certified by Madison County Clerk - 134 E Main St, Rexburg, ID, as qualified city electors. Candidates may sign their own Petition of Candidacy.

If 5 qualified city electors are not obtained, the candidate may pay a nonrefundable filing fee of $40.00. Any incomplete or missing information may void your filing.

2025 Notice of Candidate Filing Deadline

Candidates must turn in their certified Declaration and Petition of Candidacy and Appointment & Certification of Political Treasurer forms to the Rexburg City Clerk - 35 N 1st E, Rexburg, ID 83440 or Madison County Clerk - 134 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440.

Candidates may begin campaigning before officially filing for office. It's very important to review the Attribution Requirement for campaign advertising and signs. You may also find the explanation of this requirement below in the "City Candidate Elections Information 2025" under Supporting Documents.

Candidates must start Campaign Finance Reporting when they receive or expend up to a threshold of $500 per year. See below for finance reporting guidelines - The Sunshine Law and finance reporting due dates (Idaho State §67-66). You must appoint a Political Treasurer before you spend or receive election contributions (Idaho State §67-6603(c1)).

City Candidate Filing Period Closes: Friday, August 29, 2025 5:00 p.m.
Deadline for City Write In Candidates: Friday, September 5, 2025 5:00 p.m.
Deadline for Candidate Withdrawal: Friday, September 5, 2025 5:00 p.m.
Last Day to Pre-register to Vote in November 4, 2025 Election: Friday, October 24, 2025 - voters may still register to vote when voting in-person absentee, early voting, or at polling place on Election Day.
Last Day for In-Person Absentee Voting or Early Voting: Friday, October 31, 2025 5:00 p.m.
Election Day: Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
