Employee Remote Desktop Connection

With many employees working remotely, we thought it best to remind everyone to be vigilant about cybersecurity. Hackers know that many people are working remotely because of COVID-19. Hackers will take advantage of the opportunity to catch us off-guard and out of our element to stage an attack. Continue to be vigilant against phishing emails and other malicious attempts to gather information (social engineering). Think before you click any links in emails, especially if they express urgency about COVID-19 and ask you to do something. If you are not expecting the email it may be a phishing attempt. Hover over the link to make sure it is safe, before you click.
Apply updates to all computers, devices, operating systems, software, anti-malware, etc., especially personal computers.
Do not save credentials in Remote Desktop Connection (see image).
Turn on and update Windows Defender (or other anti-malware of choice) on personal computers.
Do not store work files or data on personal computers.
Do not use public WiFi networks for remoting in to work.
Make sure home network/WiFi is secure and password protected with WPA2 encryption.
Disconnect or logout from City connections when not in use.
Keep track of devices and surroundings. Do not leave devices out in the open or unattended in public.
Report any kind of cybersecurity incident (suspected or confirmed) by calling 208-372-1211 immediately.
