Hundreds attend groundbreaking of second Latter-day Saint temple in Rexburg
REXBURG – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially broke ground on its second temple in Rexburg Saturday morning.
The three-story, 100,000-square-foot Teton River Temple will be built on a 16.6-acre parcel at North Second East and Moody Drive across the street from Walmart, just over three miles from the Rexburg Idaho Temple, which was dedicated in 2008. Continue reading...

Diamonds in the road: Two $5.7 million diverging diamond interchanges planned for Rexburg
The Idaho Transportation Department plans to construct two diverging diamond interchanges in Rexburg at U.S. Highway 20 exits 332 and 333 in 2024.

Changes coming to Downtown Rexburg
The City of Rexburg is planning to redevelop sections of downtown, specifically along South Center Street, College Avenue, and Main. Development is expected to begin as early as late summer, according to Scott Johnson, the city’s economic planner. Rexburg City is currently considering developer’s applications to build. High-speed fiber internet coming to Madison County
Madison County’s $13.67 million grant will bring high-speed fiber internet directly to homes, creating new work and educational opportunities. Construction is anticipated to start this spring.

The Rexburg Restaurant Rush is in full swing. After a successful first year last year, the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce decided to bring the event back for the second year in a row.

Two coffee shops opening in Rexburg
Two prominent coffee franchises are coming to Rexburg. Construction on a new Starbucks is currently underway on University Boulevard near Applebees. As of Thursday morning, the building’s outer shell is complete and it’s all enclosed. Construction started just a few months ago and city Planning and Zoning administrator Alan Parkinson is surprised by the progress in such a short amount of time. Continue reading...

Rexburg’s new city plan explained
The Rexburg Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the new comprehensive plan to the city council on Aug. 17. The city council will review the plan and may approve it Sept. 6 — the meeting is open to the public and will be held at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
According to the Engage Rexburg Project page, “The Comprehensive Plan (the Plan) is a community-informed policy document that considers many facets of the community.” Continue reading...

City of Rexburg receives $50,000 grant to fund theater stage
The proposed Center Street Plaza in Rexburg is one step closer to becoming a reality as the City of Rexburg has received a $50,000 grant from T-Mobile.
As part of T-Mobile’s $25 million Hometown Grants program, the donation will help to fund a stage on the back of the Romance Theater. In the process, this project will continue to develop The Romance as the beating heart of cultural arts in Rexburg. Continue reading...
