Rexburg Arts is hosting two theater summer camps this year!
For ages 6-11, Storybook Theater camp will allow children to bring a classic storybook to life! They will participate in every aspect of musical theatre, have fun, and learn that the greatest gift is to share. This age group will be doing the story Stone Soup!
When a group of weary travelers creates a delicious meal from some unexpected ingredients, the gloomy citizens of Old Town ask, "Who ever heard of soup from a stone?"
Camp dates are July 8-19 (M-F), 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with performances on July 19th & 20th. Each day, they will be at the Romance Theater, learning all the ins and outs of the facility and the art of theater.
For ages 12-18, Summer Theater Camp will allow teens and tweens to dive into a whirlwind journey of musical theater, preparing and later performing Footloose, the Musical | Youth Edition!
Footloose: Youth Edition is a one-hour version of the explosive musical specially designed for young performers and is full of fun music, a great story, and memorable characters. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he learns that rigorous local edicts -- including a ban on dancing -- are about to change his life. A heartfelt story emerges with a father longing for the son he lost, a young man aching for a father who walked out on him, friends that never give up on each other, and a town that learns how to forgive -- and how to be happy again.
Camp Dates are July 29-August 9 (M-F), 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with performances on August 9th & 10th.
Youth who participate in this theatre camp can expect a crash course in musical theatre as they learn how to sing, dance, act, and have the chance to grow in all theatre skills. They will spend each day at the Romance Theater learning the ins and outs of the facility and all it's different workings.
