We’ve heard questions and concerns about the location selected for the proposed police station, and we want to share more about how that decision was made.
City and Police leadership worked together to evaluate multiple potential sites across Rexburg, including downtown locations and areas such as Airport Road. Each option was carefully considered for cost, accessibility, response times, and long-term service to the community. Some locations were ultimately ruled out due to limitations that could impact public safety - for example, restricted access points that could affect emergency response.
The Pioneer Road site was selected because it allows for better accessibility, supports efficient response across the community, and significantly reduces overall project cost compared to other options. This site has already been purchased using funds the City set aside in prior years specifically for a future police facility.

The process for a new Rexburg Police Station has been years in the making, and decisions like site selection involve many factors. Our goal is to provide clear, transparent information about how those decisions were made.
