Over the past few months, Rexburg has answered a lot of questions about the City's budget process.

Now, we're inviting you to participate. 🙋

Every third Wednesday in June, the Rexburg City Council reviews and discusses the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year. This process helps address fiscal challenges while determining how resources are allocated in an effort to plan for the future of our community. 🏛️

The FY27 Annual Budget Work Meeting is coming up! 📆

📍 Wednesday, June 17
⏰ 4:00 p.m.

It started here.

On June 5, 1976, the Teton Dam failed, sending billions of gallons of water racing through the valley below.

In a matter of hours, lives changed forever.

For many in Southeast Idaho, this image is more than a photograph. It is a moment frozen in time. A reminder of loss, uncertainty, and the strength that followed.

As we approach the 50th anniversary of the Teton Dam Flood, we remember those who lived through it, those who helped rebuild, and the legacy they left behind.
And we remember that some moments shape a community in more ways than one.

Flood 50 begins tomorrow, June 1.

The floodwaters arrived in hours.
The recovery began immediately.

Schools, churches, community centers, and gathering places became shelters. Neighbors checked on neighbors. Volunteers served meals. Strangers shared space, supplies, and support.

When people remember the Teton Dam Flood, they don't forget the devastation.
But what they hold on to is the hope that was built by a community led by kindness.

Fifty years later, we recognize the 80 billion gallons of water that roared through the region, but we honor the people who lifted each other in a time of need.

Flood 50 begins June 1.

We keep repeating these three pillars: Remember | Connect | Serve.
Together, they represent one powerful legacy.

Together, we will REMEMBER the stories, lives, and history connected to the Teton Dam Flood.

Together, we will CONNECT with neighbors, family, community events, and the shared experiences that shaped Eastern Idaho 50 years ago.

Together, we will SERVE in the same spirit of resilience, compassion, and community support that emerged in the aftermath of June 1976.

Throughout Flood 50, these three ideas will guide exhibits, films, races, service projects, tours, celebrations, and community gatherings across the region. And we will honor the resilience that endured long after the waters receded.

Help us flood the feeds by engaging with our posts about Flood 50 - like comment & share so all in the community and the region can participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event!
